Wine Discovery - Riesling
Riesling is an emblematic German varietal known for its lightness and fruity taste. It’s also very well known in the east of France, in Alsace, with the appellations Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru and Crémant d’Alsace for its notorious sparkling wines, see previous article. The terroir has a deep impact on the wine and reflects a lot of the characteristics found in it. Moreover this varietal is very fragile and sensitive to illnesses and the cold notably due to its very thin skin.
Mid palate it brings about a roundness and softness with some elderflower floral notes and just a pinch of acidity on the finish. Furthermore, during the entire tasting, this wine is characterized by a minerality which allows for a perfect pairing with seafood dishes such as a baked sea bass with lemon or Linguine with clams.
