Top 3 Wine Bars to visit when in Montpellier, France

Montpellier is seen as the capital of the Languedoc and a wonderful city getaway surrounded by vines as far as the eye can see. When visiting new places, I always love going to wine bars as it's the perfect way to discover wines you would have never tasted before, surrounded by locals, where the laid back atmosphere lets you really appreciate the place and especially through its wine.

Montpellier is my town, my adopted hometown for my studies and as a result i've gotten to know the best wine bars in the area.

First things first we'll start off with the one you have to put on your bucket list.

1. Trinque Fougasse O'Sud

Surrounded by newly built apartment blocks right near the economics and management campuses, lies one of the best wine bars in Montpellier. The laid back atmosphere is perfect for those times after work where you just want to have a glass of wine and chat with your best mates. They offer a selection of wines which can be bought by the glass or the bottle if you prefer.

2. Les Tanins d'Abord

Les Tannins d'Abord is a lovely little wine bar in the centre of Montpellier. It doesn't look like much when you get to the front door but what lies beyond is really charming. With the authentic stone walls, wood tables and metal accents this delightful wine bar will satisfy your wine curiosity by proposing a list of exceptional wines. Not sure of which wine to choose, no worries, the owner will help you find the perfect one accompanied by some locally sourced tapas.

They have a large selection of different wines from around the Languedoc as well as a wide variety of different tapas. The cosy wood atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing drink after a long day of sightseeing.
